We start from Buonopane, a village in the municipality of Barano d'Ischia, famous as the name suggests for the ability of its population to make excellent homemade bread; However, Buonopane is also famous for the "Nitroli or Nitrodi spring," also called the "fountain of youth," a natural spring whose waters have therapeutic properties, especially for the skin and digestive system. We then walk towards the statue of the Madonna, located on a hill about 300 meters high in the Buttavento area, where we are surprised by a fabulous panorama of Campagnano located southeast of Ischia, the Aragonese Castle, Ischia Ponte, and the islands of Procida and Vivara, a view that accompanies us to Fiaiano with the exception of passing through the chestnut forest, to better move during the hot hours, at the foot of Mount Epomeo. We have lunch with bruschetta, salad, and cold cuts at a local farmer's place and descend through the extinct craters of Fondo Ferraio and Fondo d'Oglio, and the Maddalena Wood, from whose lookout point the view spans over Ischia Porto and the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvius; our walk ends at the Castiglione area.
